Corbett says “Keep them Down.” We say, “canvass and phone bank!”

Watch this shocking video of Republican Tom Corbett – our Attorney General, the state’s chief law enforcement officer – telling a crowd to “Keep (the Philadelphia vote) down” next Tuesday, Election Day.

We’re not going to speculate about why candidates like Corbett are calling for Philadelphia voters to stay home or why the Tea Party in St. Paul and Houston engaging in voter suppression efforts? (as reported in the New York Times: http://nyti.ms/9srr7M)

All we are going to say is that when all the voters stand up to be counted, our politicians hear that we want an economy that provides jobs for everyone; a health care system that doesn’t allow insurance companies to deny us care; and a sustainable economy that allows us to live in harmony with the environment.

That’s what Philadelphians want, and deserve. And the only way we are going to get it is to show up to the polls on Tuesday in record numbers.

You can help! We are phonebanking and knocking on doors on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday all day to get out the vote.

For information about how to join our Philadlephia in-person phone bank Sunday from 11-3 and Monday from 5:30 to 9:00, click here.

For information about how to phone bank from home at any time, click here.

For information about our new Northeast Philadelphia volunteer phonebank, startiing 14425 Bustleton Avenue, Sunday 1:00 to 9:00 (tentative call me to be sure of start time); Monday 9:00 am – 9:00 pm and Tuesday 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, click here.

And we still need some paid canvassers in our lower Bucks County office most of the day Monday and Tuesday: call Crystal Martzall at (717) 572-8288 or email her at crystal.martzall@pennaction.org.

  1. If he said it, where is the clip?

And if he said, then he’s either an idiot who contradicts himself or he’s doing what pols do–saying what he really believes and then saying what he thinks he should say when he realizes that his true beliefs embarass him.

And he’s done it twice before, on the impact of unemployment insurance on unemployment and on the unemployment compensation payroll tax.

  2. Are you going to show the rest of that sentence where he says “We want 100% of the voters to show up, we want republicans democrats and independents”?

    Something tells me you’re not.
