Ed Goppelt has graciously agreed to set up a faxbank at his hallwatch website, so that you can contact your district council member and all the at-large members in one step asking them to join the lawsuit seeking to block closure of the libraries.

I’m going to spare you the hard sell. If YPP readers don’t already know why closing 11 branch libraries is a horrible and unjust step, nothing I add here will convince you.
I’m just going to ask all of you who share that opinion to go, NOW, and contact your council members.
While having a member of council as a plaintiff on the suit may not be strictly necessary from a legal point of view, it might help overcome any challenge to the standing of the others bringing the suit.
249 individuals have sent about 2000 messages to members of council urging them to join the library suit.
And so far three council members have filed a suit parallel to the one filed by citizens.
Keep sending the faxes and maybe we will get another couple of council members by Monday.

177 individuals sending 1461 messages to council
so far. And the pace is picking up.
Thank you all. And keep them coming.
Well, it turns out that Ed Goppelt’s faxbank does work through email and that the emails go to the blackberries of our council members, which I suppose is why one of them just sent me the following message:
I got your message, I got your message, I got your message. Now, please stop with the childish crap by getting your finger off of the “send” button. Enough!
I’m not going to say who sent this because it was a personal message and he’s a good councilman, everything considered. And I think the emails from Ed’s system actually come with my email address on them, although the text makes clear that they are from different constituents.
And, more importantly, his attitude towards the expression of opinion on the part of his constituents is, unfortunately, not idiosyncratic.
Maybe our council members will empower the 311 system to take messages about public policy for them so they don’t have to be bothered by hearing from their constituents about anything.
Fax, email, phone, carrier pigeon, fedex, telegraph
it’s all the same. Phone may be a little better because it takes a bit more effort.
On the other hand Ed’s faxbank system enables you to send to your district council member and all 7 at large members at the same time.
I’m not sure but I think Ed’s faxbank actually works through email.
Just make the contact!!!!
