Dear Friends,
I’m afraid that Penn ACTION can’t offer you a tax deduction for a year-end contribution to our organization. But we need you to make one by clicking here.
That’s because we’re asking you for 501(c)4 contributions, the kind of money that will enable us to work together to do the hardest hitting, most aggressive political action in 2011, the kind of work that was so instrumental to passing the Affordable Care Act this year.
We’re going to use that money to mobilize you and the other 25,000 people on our list and add another 25,000 people to it by the end of 2011.
Just as we did in the last two years on health care reform, together we’re going to going to demand action on issue after issue issues that concern working people and the middle class. And we are going to keep shouting out loud when powerful corporations stand in our way. To make that happen, please contribute by clicking here.
The recent election proved something most of us said and showed during the health care campaign, that this is the time for progressives to be aggressive, to confront the corporations that are perverting our democracy, and to show working people and the middle class that someone is on their side.
So
- We’re going to call for new regulations on health insurance rates.
- We’re going to insist on real competition between insurance companies in in Pennsylvania.
- We’re going to fight against cut backs in spending on education, health care, and critical social services here in Pennsylvania and across the country.
- And we’re going to demand new taxes on the rich and corporations to pay for a government that serves the people not the special interests
We may lose some of these fights, but we will build a record—and a base of support—for 2012.
We can’t use tax-deductible money or money from foundations for that kind of activism. So your contributions are critical. The more money we can raise from our members, the hard hitting our politics can be.
So, if you haven’t joined Penn ACTION as a paying member, yet, please click here to do so today.
As the year turns, let me thank you again for your support and, most of all, your activism.
I know there have been some bitter disappointments for all of us in the last six months. But please never forget that health care reform would never have passed without your work. You made it happen. As a result of your work, tens of thousands of people are already benefitting and, when the program goes fully into effect in 2014, millions will benefit and tens of thousands of lives will be saved each and every year.
Happy New Year!
