It's time to bring Health Care Reform Home: join us on March 9

We are getting very close to the end of this year’s battle on health care reform. President Obama and the Congressional leadership have agreed on a path to enacting much of what we wanted by the end of this month. The first, critical vote may come as early as March 19.

But we need your help to bring it home. Can you join us next Tuesday, March 9, on a bus to DC for a final push for health care reform and against the insurance companies?

RSVP here http://hcanpa.org/m9 for a bus leaving from Philadelphia at 7:00 am from Love Park. Other buses are leaving from Doylestown, Fairless Hills, Plymouth Meeting, and ten other cities in the state.

You’ve marched, phone-banked, rallied, emailed, canvassed, faxed and come to town halls and meetings for health care reform. That is the only reason we are so close to victory now.

I want to make sure you understand that we would have lost long ago without your work. Congress will not move on an issue as complicated as health care reform, and in the face of so much organized corporate opposition, unless the people of this country stand up and demand action.

And the legislation that is going to be enacted is, while far from perfect, a huge step forward. You probably don’t know how good it is. But let me just tell you this: Families of 3 making 27,000 a year will be able to purchase high quality, comprehensive insurance for about $50 to 60 a month.

That is a subsidy of over $1050 a year. And no one will be denied insurance or charged more if they have pre-existing conditions or if they are women. And there will be no annual or lifetime limits on coverage.

This is the largest expansion of the social safety net since Medicare. It will provide benefits to low-income families that are worth more than twice the value of food stamps and the earned income tax credit combined. And it will provide help for families with incomes up to $88,000 for a family of 4.

It will make a strong down-payment on the Democratic promise to help rebuild the American middle class.

Over the last 19 months, activists in Pennsylvania have led the whole country on health care reform. We are needed again.

The insurance companies are going to be in Washington to mount a major effort to stop reform and we have to be there to stand in their way and tell Congress to listen to the people not the insurance companies. (And for those of you who say that the bill is a sell-out to the insurance industry, tell me why they are trying so hard to kill it?)

So, please, join us in Washington on March 9. Sign up for a bus today at http://hcanpa.org/m9.

Thanks for all your hard work over the last 20 months since the campaign began. And get ready for victory
