So it\u2019s no wonder he doesn\u2019t always get things right. He said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/04\/30\/politics\/trump-health-care-pre-existing-conditions\/\">on CBS\u2019s \u201cFace the Nation\u201d Sunday<\/a>, \u201cPre-existing conditions are in the bill. And I mandate it. I said, \u2018Has to be.&#8217;\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"post-3121\" class=\"item entry\">\n<div class=\"storycontent\">\n<div class=\"row row-archive\">\n<p>Wrong.<\/p>\n<p>In the last day, two respected organizations,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consumersunion.org\/news\/fact-check-ahca-eliminates-guaranteed-coverage-for-preexisting-conditions\/\">Consumers Union<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.aarp.org\/2017\/04\/28\/macarthur-amendment-to-ahca-means-higher-premiums-for-age-and-pre-existing-conditions\/\">AARP<\/a>, confirmed what we said <a href=\"https:\/\/thirdandstate.org\/2017\/april\/health-care-again\">two weeks ago<\/a>: \u00a0the AHCA will make it impossible for many people \u2014 if not most people \u2014 with pre-existing conditions to afford health insurance if their state opts out of the ACA rules that guarantee people with pre-existing are offered insurance at the same rates as those without them. A million people in Pennsylvania are threatened if, as seems likely, the Republican-dominated General Assembly were to vote to make Pennsylvania one of those states.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The Republican plan calls for high risk pools to cover people with pre-existing conditions. But as Consumers Union says, their \u201clong track-record of failure have historically resulted in very high premiums and onerous terms for coverage that doesn\u2019t provide the care consumers need.\u201d Consumers Union points out, as we did, that we can\u2019t make high risk pools effective in protecting people with pre-existing conditions at a lower cost than the cost of the ACA. The nation would have to spend <a href=\"http:\/\/consumersunion.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/High-Risk-Pool-Fact-Sheet-FINAL.pdf\">more than $1 trillion over ten years<\/a>, that is 300% more than is included in the most generous version of the AHCA, to guarantee affordable, high-quality care for everyone with pre-existing conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Members of Congress have to decide whether or not they are going to support a plan on the basis of Donald Trump\u2019s fake guarantiees and risk the health insurance of milions of people.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Tump discovered not too long ago that Health Care is hard.
